Sara Burrier

Sara sees her art as an opportunity to express her highest ideals. She has always been inspired by nature's diverse and awesome beauty; yet she has learned to find, through her sincere faith, an even greater inspiration in her Souce: "The earth and all its wonders used to be my main source of inspiration. Though now there is another source of inspiration I thrive on, and that is God."

She hopes that her art will project something more than human to the viewer, conveying the qualities of strength, hope, and love. She believes that as humans, we need reassurance, an insight into what God has to offer that this world can't possibly give. She lives off of hope, desire love so deeply, and admires strenghth. These things are the principles of her work and why she creates. It is her drive and purpose to inspire others, young and old, to view life as full of peaceful light. For Sara, who describes herself as an "emotional and animated person," says the challenge is to create art which reminds her to step back from the fast pace of outer world and feel the joy within. The light in her work has a source, and that is love. It brings a warmth to the pieces, which all too often have a dark, shady side.

She has found inspiration in teaching art to children at the Des Moines Art Center where she gets to see God's hands at work. The opportunites of attending the Minneapolis College of Art & Design, studying abroad in Scotland, and finding her roots in old fairytales have also driven her to provide security in her students' diverse talent and personalities. She is blessed in knowing she was a part of their life and creativity. Sara continues to live in Des Moines, Iowa, with her husband and two cats, Madeline and Talor.
